Article 27 in the Basic adult general education regulation Education Act

" Promotion shall be carried out separately for each program.

Adults may enroll in a program only after obtaining the prerequisites."

Individuals that do not have a Quebec or Canadian high school transcript will now be required to pass a level exam for English, French and Math before being placed.

To be placed in a secondary 1, 2, 3 or 4 level, an exam starting from Secondary 1 in English, French and Math will be given. When a passing mark is achieved in each level, the student will move into the next level.

For example- If a student wishes to complete Secondary 4 Math and has no transcripts, they will now be required to complete an exam only for Math Secondary 1, 2, and 3. If you are successful in all 3 levels, then you will be placed in Sec 4 Math.


Individuals who have transcripts from Quebec or Canada will be placed in the appropriate level.



English Language Arts

Individuals that have no Quebec or Canadian high school transcripts will now be required to pass each level for English, French and Math. Students will no longer be placed in a level, they will instead be given exams starting from Secondary 1 and if a passing mark is achieved, they can move into the next level. If the exam is failed, the student will begin at that level.

Spheres of Generic Competencies

The SPHERE's emphasizes skills that adults have acquired through every day experiences. An assessment of prior learning should enable the adult to show his or her skills from personal knowledge and practice. During the assessment, importance will be placed on the skills that the adult uses to organize and accomplish tasks in different life situations.

There are 5 spheres; each worth 4 Secondary V option credits:

Please note that the Spheres program has a different set up. There ae 3 parts to this program.

1- Students are required to meet with the counselor to discuss their options.

2- Students complete their Informational Bank booklet at home and meet with the counsellor on a specified day

3- A two part final exam in school .
